BBC News is at the heart of teh BBC's output. It is responible for newsgathering and the production of national daily, business and political news and current affairs programmes for BBC Television, Radio and Online.
It is the largest broadcast news operation in the world, producing around 120 hours of output daily, with more than 2,000 journalists.
What is the news clip service?
This is a daily news clip service streamed directly to you. Our editorial team select clips as the news happens. You will receive on average 30 per day, each up to 3 minutes long. Clips are sourced from the folling genres:
- World News
- World Business News
- Entertainment
- Science / Nature
- Technology
- Health
- Politics
- Education
The news clips are relevant to the online market and rights cleared for online and mobile phones. Every clip is provided with a text file that includes the headline and a short summary of the clip, plus a specification of the genre. Each clip is sent as a raw audio video file and in your desired file format. Delivery is made over internet protocol on a file by file basis. Each clip has a 7 day license and will be deleted automatically after 7 days.
Where can I display the news clips?
You can choose to display the clips on your network / website / mobile platform. You can drop the video clips into an existing online player or build a BBC news area (we can help you with the correct branding).
- You will need to ensure to have a Geo IP blocking mechanism in place as the BBC video clips should not be viewed by users in the UK
Pre-roll and banner advertising opportunity
For the first time ever there will be a revenue sharing opportunity, enabling you to offer advertisers a pre-roll advert to appear before the start of the video clips.
- The advert can run from 15 to 30 seconds in duration.
- Additionally to the pre-roll advert, a banner can also be used - an eye catching way for your advertiser to reinforce their message.
- Once you receive the files, you can add the pre-roll advertising abd banner and make these available on your network / website / mobile platform.
- If you take this option you will be provided with a BBC News interstitial to play between the pre-roll advertisement and the clip.
